Quality Assurance / Quality Control |
IAL takes specific steps to provide the highest quality analytical data.
Our Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program has been developed and
managed in accordance with NELAC requirements.
Final report deliverables are prepared to litigation quality in a structured
format to facilitate immediate data review.
Data validation is an integral part of our QA/QC program. All organic analyses meet
specific requirements for surrogate spiking recoveries, as well as spike/spike
duplicate recoveries. Shewart curves are continuously reviewed and updated in
order to set upper and lower control limits for each analyte, as well as maintain
instrument accuracy, precision, and MDL integrity.
IAL participates in proficiency testing (PT) studies as mandated by NELAC guidelines.
We are required to participate in 2 separate PT Studies per year for each category of
certification. IAL is certified in the following three categories: Potable Water,
Waste Water, and Solid/ Hazardous Waste.
We have structured our information flow to create checkpoints to assure that
we have satisfied regulatory and client specified objectives. We strive in
every aspect of our work to "handle a number only once", to minimize
transcription or computational errors. The process of minimizing errors
starts with the initial analytical request. Most of the analytical data
generated by IAL analyses is loaded directly onto a main file server.
The data report is generated by accessing the file server and downloading
the information into a user-friendly format.
To achieve our objectives, IAL has developed a system of Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs), report formats, and review mechanisms for all areas of the
laboratory. IAL SOPs are available for all laboratory functions including but
not limited to:
Laboratory Policies and Procedures
Purchasing
Sample Receiving and Log-In Procedures
Maintenance and Security of samples throughout the Laboratory System
Performing all Analytical Methods of Analysis
Instrument Maintenance
Document Control Procedures
Data Management and Handling, including data security and archiving
Method Compliance, Report Preparation and Data Validation
